Child Killed in July 4 Accident

A four-year-old girl was killed last Tuesday, July 4, in an accident at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hulbert of rural Earlham.

The child, Valerie Hulbert, was crushed between a building and a pickup truck. Her brother, Roger Hulbert Jr., 6 years old, was apparently in the cab of the truck when the accident occurred.

The Hulbert home is located three and one half miles northeast of Earlham in Dallas County.

Funeral services for the girl were conducted Saturday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m. from Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines with burial at Bear Creek Cemetery.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hulbert; her brother, Roger Jr.; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hulbert of Cedar Falls and Ronald and Beverly Bagley of Altoona; great grandparents, Charles Bagley of Des Moines and Martha Bagley of Indianola and great grandmother, Mrs. Ethel Kern of Des Moines.
