Truro Soldier Is Reported Wounded in Action in France
Two more Madison county soldiers were reported killed in action and one more was reported wounded within the past week. All three casualties were from the western European front. The two deaths were:
Sgt. Scott L. Cole, of Winterset
Pvt. Lloyd A. Hudson of Macksburg
The soldier wounded in action was:
Pvt. John J. Gracey of Truro.

Private Hudson was killed in action in France on Sept. 11, according to a telegram from the War department received last Wednesday by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hudson of Macksburg. The preceding week the parents had been notified that their son was missing in action.
Private Hudson was widely known throughout the Macksburg community where he was born and spent all his life, prior to entering service. He attended the Macksburg high school and had been in service about two years.

1948PVT. LLOYD HUDSON BURIED HERE SUNDAY
The body of Pvt. Lloyd Hudson of Macksburg was placed at rest in the Moon cemetery south of that town Sunday, after being returned from France, where he sacrificed his life in battle during the recent war.
The young soldier, who was 24 years old when he died, was a life-long resident of Madison county. He was born near Macksburg, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hudson. He attended Macksburg high school, and entered the army in 1942. He served with an anti-tank company during the fighting in France, and was killed in action Sept. 15, 1944.
In addition to his parents, he leaves three sisters, Opal Noble of Creston, Evelyn White of Altoona, and Marilyn at home; two half-sisters, Marie Moffitt of Lorimor and Pearl Ely of San Francisco, Calif.; and a brother, Vernon Hudson of Madrid.

Page 1Macksburg to Hold Gold Start Service
A Gold Start memorial service will be held at the Methodist church here Sunday at 10 a.m. in honor of the service men from this community who gave their lives for their country in the recent conflict.
Those to be honored are Billy J. Stewart, Ben Kiddoo, Lloyd Hudson, Eddie Briggles, Dale Bell, and Edward Butcher.
The Rev. J.A. Englund will have charge of the service, assisted by the American Legion.
