BETTY TAYLOR, Winterset

Betty Jean Taylor, 74, of Winterset died June 25, 2005, at Mercy Hospice House in Johnston.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 28, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. Burial was at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in rural Douds.

Betty Taylor was born Dec. 21, 1930, to Harold and Edna (Dysert) Frederick of Ollie. In 1951, she married Claire Strait. She later married Jim Taylor of Galesburg, Ill., in 1984. A longtime resident of Ottumwa, she moved to Galesburg in 1984 and then to Winterset in 2004.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Claire, and a brother, Donnie Frederick.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, of Galesburg, Ill., four daughters, Linda Breaux of Raceland, La., Valery Jewell of Mountain Home, Idaho, Jean Walker of Winterset and Joni Frederick of Omaha, Neb.; one son, Larry Strait of Winterset; her mother, Edna Barker of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Beverly Gates of North Liberty; and 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
