Ben Taylor, former resident of Penn township, died Saturday, June 2, 1962, at his home in Adel. He was 77 years of age.
Mr. Taylor had lived in Adel the last 12 years. He was employed as caretaker of the city park in that community.
He was a native of Penn township, where he was born Oct. 5, 1885, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Taylor. Most of his life was spent farming in Penn township.
He was a member of the Earlham Christian church for many years, later transferring to the Adel Christian church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna Taylor; two daughters, Mrs. Esther Leeper of Earlham and Mrs. Violet Eddy of Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Charles Taylor of Winterset; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Mildred Price preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Fisher Funeral home in Adel, with the Rev. Ray Barnett of the Adel Christian church officiating. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Wednesday, July 4, 1962Ben Taylor, son of William and Erphemia Taylor was born on October 7, 1884 in Madison County, Iowa and passed away on June 2, 1962 at the age of 76 years, 8 months at his home.
Ben was united in marriage to Anna Hoadley on February 5, 1908. To this union were born 4 children. One daughter, Mildred Price passed away October 19, 1960.
The Taylor’s have lived in the Adel community for more than 14 years. Ben was a member of the Christian Church of Adel for the past 10 years. He also had been a member of the Early Chapel Church and the Earlham Christian Church.
Ben loved his work and the community has benefited from it. He was kind and loving to his family and everyone.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Anna, two daughters, Mrs. Esther Leeper of Earlham and Violet Eddy of Kansas City, Mo.; one son Charles W. Taylor of Winterset; one brother Roy Taylor of Earlham; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; also many friends and other relatives.
