A former citizen of Winterset has quietly passed from earth. A. Root, for a few years past a citizen of Fonatanelle, was up and around Tuesday of last week feeling well and in good spirits. He went to bed as usual, but not getting up until late some of the family (he was living with his son) went to call him and found him in the bed – dead.

He was 82 years of age and was a soldier in the war of 1812. Mr. Root was the grandfather of Mrs. Maria L. Evans of this city.
