LOREN STONEMAN, Orange City

Loren Doyle Stoneman, 71, of Orange City died of cancer Nov. 25, 2004, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the Family Worship Center Assembly of God in St. Joseph, Mo., with the Rev. A.D. Cline officiating. A prayer service was held Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City with the Rev. Jeffrey Keady officiating. Burial followed at West Lawn Cemetery, also in Orange City.

Loren Stoneman was born May 13, 1933, in rural Truro to William Arthur and Lillian Henrietta (Attig) Stoneman. He was a 1952 graduate of Truro High School. He served in the United States Army for two years, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colo. Loren received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Northwest Missouri State. He also attended the George Peabody College in Tennessee, Emporia State University in Kansas and Open Bible College in Des Moines, where he studied the political, social and library sciences.

He taught school for many years in rural Iowa and Missouri, including Waukee and Lineville. He also served as a librarian for the city of Nevada and the community college in Muscatine.

On Dec. 20, 1975, he married Evelyn Marie Brown at Oak Grove Chapel in St. Joseph, Mo. They moved to Orange City in August of this year. He was a member of the Family Worship Center Assembly of God in St. Joseph, Mo.

He was preceded in death by infant twin brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Orange City and one daughter, Marilyn Lorrinda Stoneman of St. Joseph, Mo.
