RUTH VAWTER, Winterset

Ruth Joy Vawter, 61, of Winterset, died May 31, 1994 at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Funeral services are June 1, 1994 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. The Rev. Don Frank will officiate the ceremony and burial will be at the Coin Cemetery at 1 p.m.

She was born Oct. 27, 1932 in Clarinda to Allen and Hazel A. (Long) Whitehill. She married Bobby C. Vawter on June 5, 1955 in Clarinda. She was an elementary teacher and taught at the Winterset Community School, Stanton, Coin, Shenandoah, South Page Community Schools and the South Tama County Community School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Surviving relatives include her husband; one son, Robbie C. Vawter of Iowa City; one daughter, Holly J. Hugart and husband Jacob of Minneapolis, Minn.; and her mother.
