Ray Hope, Winterset

Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 12 at Collins Funeral Home for Ray Hope, who died Nov. 10 at Winterset Care Center South. He was 81 years old.

Born Sept. 28, 1900, in Madison county, he was the son of Charles and Maude Keifer Hope.

On Oct. 11, 1923, he married Laura Simmons in Des Moines. Mrs. Hope died in 1936.

Mr. Hope lived in Madison county most of his life, farming until his retirement in 1968.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Larry Nichols; two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Dick and Gene of Des Moines and Rex of Ankeny; three daughters, Delores Tracy of New Virginia; Doretta Hager of Oceanside, Calif., and Marjorie Huffman of Decatur, Neb.; a brother, Eldon of St. Charles; two sisters, Grace Rogers of Winterset and Violet Eagan of Patterson; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Burial was at Peru Cemetery.
