COLE M. SPILLERS
Cole M. Spillers was born the son of E. Roscoe and Cleeta Walters Spillers on the family farm in rural Dallas County, Iowa on October 26, 1914 and died at the Adel Acres Care Center in Adel on August 2, 2004 at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 7 days.
Cole was a life-long resident of the Dexter and Redfield area. He was a farmer and was employed at the Iowa State University Research farm in Ankeny where he retired after 18 years. Cole and Mildred McMullin were married June 3, 1939 at Atchison, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children, Marilyn Coleen and Frank. Cole was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred of 60 years and his daughter Coleen Barry.
Cole was a member of the Dexter Presbyterian Church and a 50 plus year member of the Masons. He was a homebody and never wanted to get to far from home, however he and Mildred did travel once to Northstar Ontario, Canada to visit family. One regular trip that Cole enjoyed the most was the weekly trip to Lake Robbins Ballroom where he and Mildred would dance for hours. Cole enjoyed hunting, fishing, and socializing with anyone. He also enjoyed spending time with family.
Cole is survived by his son Frank and wife Jan of Agoura, CA; grandchildren: James M. Barry of Adel; Joseph D. Barry of Clive; Stefanie R. Roesler and husband Robb of San Diego, CA; Stacie L. Spillers of San Diego, CA; and 2 great-grandchildren Fletcher Cole Barry and Jazmin Rae Barry, IA; as well as his sister Lucile Morrissey of Winterset, Iowa
