Mrs. Martin Mohler died early Tuesday morning at the State University hospital in Iowa City, following an operation for a brain tumor. The sudden seriousness of her illness and her death came as a great shock to the community.

Mrs. Mohler was very active in several organizations and was always willing to lend a helping hand when ever asked.

She is survived by her husband, a son Arthur who is a member of the U.S. Marines and five children at home. They are: Rolland, Arlene, Helen, Lois and Robert. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Agnes Strain of Berwick, and three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at one-thirty at the Methodist church.

Rev. Arthur Henry pastor of the church conducted the services. Mrs. Earl Schalkle and Mrs. Arthur Marks sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs. Mervyn McLennan was accompanist. Following the regular service the officers of the Earlham Eastern Star Chapter conducted the Eastern Star funeral service. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.

OBITUARY

Myrtle, oldest child of Arthur and Agnes Strain, was born January 17, 1899, and passed away August 24, 1943 after a short illness, at the age of 44 years, seven months and seven days.

On October 25, 1922, she was united in marriage with Martin Mohler. to this union six children were born: Pvt. Arthur Mohler, who is stationed with the Marines at San Diego, California, and Rolland, Arlene, Helen, Lois, and Robert who are at home.

When she was a young girl she joined the Methodist church at Berwick, Iowa. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Service Chairman of the Red Cross.

Besides her husband and family, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Agnes Strain of Berwick, three brothers and three sisters, also a host of relatives and friends.
