Sara C. Hewitt, 76, of San Francisco, Calif., died Nov. 20, 1999 at St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset with the Rev. Ramon Runkel officiating. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26 with the family present from noon until service time.
Sara Hewitt was born Sept. 19, 1923 to Ancil and Nellie (Hart) Field of Winterset. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1941. Her marriage to Merle "Red" Hewitt took place Oct. 16, 1942 in Carson City, Nev. She and her husband moved to California in 1942 where they resided for 57 years. Sara retired in 1978 following 30 years of employment as a realty specialist officer for the federal government.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her husband of San Francisco; a daughter, Catherine With of Foster City, Calif; two sisters, Madelyn Wald (husband Ed) of Winterset and Wilma Baker (husband Dwight) of Des Moines; one brother, Dean Field (wife Marianne) of North Carolina; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
