Byram Leonard Thrift, a well-known Lincoln township farmer and stockman for many years, died last Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harriett Rinehart, in that community. He was 90 years of age, and had been in failing health for some time.

Mr. Thrift's entire life was spent in Lincoln township, since coming there with his parents at the age of 8 years. He was a native of Frederickstown, Knox county, Ohio, where he was born Jan. 16, 1857, the son of Brown and Elizabeth Leonard Thrift.

When he was 8 years old he came with his parents and one brother and one sister to Madison county, making the trip in a covered wagon.

As a young man here he was married to Ada Bertholf. They were the parents of two daughters, one dying in infancy. The wife and mother died 30 years ago.

In addition to the daughter, Mrs. Rinehart, he leaves four nephews, C. B. and Guy Thrift of Winterset, Lyle McCall of Lorimor and Gail McCall of Afton.

Funeral services were held last Friday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Frederick Cooper of Des Moines. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
