RON CHAPMAN, Chariton

Ronald Dean Chapman, 70, of Chariton died Dec. 18, 2005, at his home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 21, at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. Burial was at Chariton Cemetery.

Ron Chapman was born Dec. 5, 1935, in Forest City to Olwyn and Alma Chapman. He graduated from Manly High School, attended junior college in Mason City, Iowa State University in Ames and the University of Iowa, where he graduated with a civil engineering degree in 1961. On Feb. 17, 1962, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Weidman of Winterset. Ron was employed with the Department of Transportation in Des Moines, later moving to Chariton where he was district engineer until his retirement Dec. 31, 1997. He served on the Chariton Water Board and was a member of Chariton Masonic Lodge 63 A.F. & A.M. and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Sue, of Chariton; two sons, Mike Chapman of Indianola and Bill Chapman of Chariton; and one grandson.
