1963HOWARD HAMMANS DIED ON TUESDAY
Well-Known Farmer-Stockman Was 74 Years of Age
W. Howard Hammans, well-known Madison county farmer, died Tuesday, April 9, at his home north of Winterset. He was 74 years of age.
Mr. Hammans was born at Lorimor, Dec. 12, 1888, a son of William Henry and Mercy Groesbeck Hammans. He had lived in Madison county for 31 years. For half a century he had engaged in the breeding of Polled Hereford cattle.
He was married in 1921 to Mamie Thomas, who survives him.
Mr. Thomas was a member of the Presbyterian church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Charles Miller of Houma, La., Mrs. Hugh Shively of Missouri Valley, and Mrs. Dale Golding of Okinawa; and a son, Wayne Hammans of Melford Station, N.Y. He also leaves 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph Hammans of Winterset and Roy Hammans of Lorimor; and two sisters, Mrs. Eva Brant of Truro and Mrs. Glenn Bacon of Lorimor.
Two sons preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. from the First Presbyterian church in Winterset, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. John E. Fink. Burial will be made in the Lorimor cemetery.

William Howard Hammans, 74, died at his home north of Winterset Tuesday morning. He had been a Polled Hereford breeder for fifty years and was well known throughout the county.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian church in Winterset.
He is survived by his wife Mamie, three daughters, a son, two brothers and two sisters.
