Death Of DR. T. P. WEIR
Well Known Osteopath Dies at Muncie, Ind.

Dr. T. P. Weir, who was removed from this place to the home of his niece at Muncie, Ind., on August 16th, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 6th. A telegram to that effect was received here Sunday, with the further information that the burial services would be held Tuesday at Muncie.

Dr. Weir came to Winterset to practice osteopathy during the fall of 1901, first having his office over the Fox store and later in the Houk building a few doors west.

He was held in high esteem by the people of this community and in many homes there will be the sincere sorrow that comes when one who has for many years ministered to human suffering and sickness, passes away. He ranked high among the osteopathic physicians of the state and was unusually successful in the treatment of digestive disorders.

While on a visit to Muncie, Ind., to visit a sister, who has since died, Dr. Weir was stricken and from the first there was almost no hope of his recovery.

DR. T. P. WIER

Thomas Perkins Wier was born near Muncie, Ind., in Delaware county. He was the son of John and Rebecca Wier. He received his early education in the country schools, afterward graduating from Muncie high school.

He taught school in his native state for some years, then entered the university of Michigan and graduated from the law department, beginning the practice of law in Kansas City, where he also was engaged in the real estate business with his brother. He afterward taught school in Parkville, Mo. Following this, he took up the study of osteopathy, entering the Kirksville, Mo. school where he was graduated and came to Des Moines where he took post graduate work at Still college.

He came to Winterset in March, 1901, and commenced the practice of osteopathy, continuing until June of this year. While on a visit to a sister, who was very sick at Muncie, Ind., he was stricken with paralysis on June 12th, which was at first considered light and he came to Winterset and was cared for in the home of Dr. Parks until August 23, when relatives came and took him to the home of his sister in Muncie, where he lived three weeks, passing away Sept. 7, 1924, aged 70 years, 2 months and 6 days.

Dr. Wier, the skillful and conscientious physician, the loyal and devoted friend, the scholarly gentleman and splendid citizen, will be gratefully remembered by Winterset people.
