Helen E. Haave, 83, died of cancer Dec. 3, 1995, at her home in Park Ridge, Ill. Memorial services were held Dec. 7, 1995 at the First United Methodist Church in Park Ridge, Ill.

She was born to Sankey and Ethel (Betts) Smith on Aug. 23, 1912, in Madison County. She attended Van Meter High School and Iowa State University in Ames. She received her Masters Degree from Chicago University in Ill. She taught Home Economics classes in several Chicago high schools for many years. She married Harold Haave on June 21, 1947, and was a resident of Park Ridge, Ill., until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Surviving relatives include her husband; a daughter, Jennie Haave of Denver, Colo.; two sister-in-laws, Mildred Smith of Van Meter and Celia Smith of Winterset; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the United Methodist Church, 418 Touchy, Park Ridge, Ill.
