Services for Rick S. Schirm, 30, rural Peru, who was killed in an accident when his truck left a county highway Nov. 6, were held on Monday, Nov. 9, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Winterset on July 16, 1957, he was the son of Lloyd and Faye Nichols Schirm. He worked at the grounds department of the Des Moines Water Works Park. He graduated from the Des Moines Area Community College last spring with a degree in horticulture and landscaping.

Mr. Schirm had lived in Madison County all his life and was a graduate of Winterset High School in 1976.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Doris, of Winterset; step-sisters, Sharon Kingsbury of Chariton, Bonnie Thompson of Kansas City, Mo., and Barbara Weldon of Winterset; sisters, Fonda Bass of Winterset, Patricia Tracy of Ankeny and Connie Patton of Longmont, Colo.; and a half-sister, Shelly Brittain of Erie, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
