The funeral of John Grissom, aged 83 years who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ace Newell near Norwalk last Friday, was held at the Blair Chapel last Monday. Interment was made in Blair Chapel cemetery beside his wife who died many years ago. Mr. Grissom has been a resident of this vicinity during his long and useful life with the exception of a few years spent in Miami, Florida. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. A. F. Newell, Mrs. C. P. Monroe of Des Moines and Mrs. J. O. Monroe of Miami, Florida.

The death of John Franklin Grissom occurred December 29th at the home of his sister, Mrs. A. F. Newell at Norwalk. Although a resident of Warren county, Mr. Grissom was well known in Madison county. He was 83 years old.
The deceased was the son of Thomas and Mary Grissom, and was born near Columbia, Kentucky on February 8, 1851. He came to Iowa in 1872 and has since made his home in this state.
Mr. Grisson was an active member of the United Brethren and Methodist churches. He was married January 17, 1877, to Amelia Rebecca Cason. They were the parents of five children, two sons dying in infancy. The three daughters, Mrs. Newell, Mrs. J. O. Monroe, and Mrs. C. P. Monroe, survive, as well as three brothers, W. D. Grissom, M. T. Grissom and E. L. Grissom. Funeral services were held Monday at Blair Chapel in charge of the Rev. Mr. Riggs of Des Moines. Burial was made in the Blair Chapel cemetery.
