MRS. FRANK GREGORY DIED LAST SATURDAY

Death of Long-Time Local Resident Occurs at St. Louis

Mrs. Frank Gregory, a well-known resident of this community for many years, died Saturday Feb. 7, at the home of her son Warren Gregory of St. Louis, Mo. She was 81 years of age.

Mrs. Gregory was the former Effie May Peach, daughter of Mosten W. and Laura Bell Peach. She was born in Buena Vista county Nov. 12, 1871. In her early youth she moved with her parents to a farm in Missouri. Two years later they moved to Huntsville, Ark., where her father was publisher and editor of the Huntsville News.

In 1892, the family came to Madison county, settling on a farm south of Winterset. She taught school here until her marriage to Frank Gregory which occurred June 30, 1900.

Their married life was spent in or near Winterset, except for two years at Chillicothe, Mo. Because of failing health recently, she had been living with her son in St. Louis.

She is survived by her husband; the son, Warren Gregory of St. Louis; a granddaughter; and three sisters, Mrs. Laura Gregory, Mrs. Irene Hoots and Mrs. Alma Soderlund.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Anderson home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
