Bill Gordon Died Monday

Bill W. Gordon, 57, Winterset's Water Plant Superintendent , died of a heart attack Monday, June 18 at his home. Funeral services, conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 21 at Collins Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born on October 31, 1921 in Winterset, he was the son of Harold D. and Mildred Sloan Gordon. A 1939 graduate of Winterset High School, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1942.

Mr. Gordon was married to Betty Lee Jellings of Randalia, Ia. on March 4, 1945. Except for time spent in the service, Mr. Gordon was employed by the city of Winterset from 1939 until his death.

Mr. Gordon was a charter member of V.F.W. Post 8145 in Winterset and was also a member of their Honor Guard Unit.

He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife Betty; a son, Larry of Winterset; two daughters, Kathy Hunt of Winterset and Dixie DeCarlo of Des Moines; his mother, Mildred Gordon of Winterset, and four grandchiildren.
