Clara Catherine Watts, a lifetime resident of Madison County, died Monday, April 27, 1981, at Villa West Care Center in Winterset. She was 76 years old.
Born on Sept. 3, 1904 in Des Moines, Ia., she was the daughter of Maurice Lynch and Catherine Gill.
In 1928 she married Garner Cornelius Watts at St. Patrick's Irish Settlement near Cumming, Ia. Mr. Watts died on Feb. 2, 1972.
A housewife, she attended the Catholic Church at St. Patrick's Irish Settlement and belonged to St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Societies.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Lynch.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond of Des Moines and John of Winterset; one daughter, Catherine Lucy Johnson of Iowa City; one brother, Maurice M. Lynch of Cumming; three sisters, Mary McLaughlin of West Des Moines, Lucy L'Estrange of Des Moines, and Margaret Weil of Cumming; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 20 at St. Patrick's Irish Settlement, Father John Richter officiating. Burial was at St. Patrick's.
