Mrs. Ernest Kuhns, a resident of Winterset for the last six years died at the Madison county Memorial hospital here Friday, Jan. 5. She had been in failing health for several years, and had been seriously ill for the past month. She was 46 years of age.

Mrs. Kuhns was born at Orient on June 3, 1904. She was the former Gladys Muriel Green, daughter of Ed and Leota Green. Most of her life was spent in Adair county.

She graduated from the Zion Consolidated school in 1924. She was a member of the Hill of Zion Christian church in that community.

She was married to Ernest Kuhns on Nov. 2, 1925. They came to Winterset in 1944, and this community since had been her home.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Saunders and Mrs. Margaret Jean Baker, both of Winterset; five sons, Harold Kuhns of Des Moines, and Lester, Russell, Ralph and Robert Kuhns at home. She also leaves her parents, who now live at Creston; four grandchildren; three brothers, Clair Green of Orient, Rex Green of Waukee, and Max Green of Burbank, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Pluma Shouse of Creston.

Funeral services were held from the Richards Funeral home Monday, in charge of the Rev. Linda Tolby. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
