Former Winterset Resident Dies in Des Moines at Age of 59 Years
Clarence O. German, formerly a well-known Winterset resident, died Saturday, April 27, at a Des Moines hospital. He was 59 years of age.
Mr. German had been living in Des Moines since moving from Winterset in 1950. He was employed as a meat cutter at the East End Locker plant there.
He was a native of Hopeville, where he was born May 28, 1903, a son of Silvester and Almeda Vannetta German. He lived in Winterset for 20 years, working as a meat cutter here.
Mr. German was married Oct. 31, 1943, to June I. Ponx who survives him. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Almeda German of St. Charles; a brother Harold German of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Ted Andersen of St. Charles; two step-sons, Charles Vernon Traster of Des Moines and Cecil Melvin Traster of Indiana; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Robert A. Ownes, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial was made with graveside services at Hopeville.
