Simmons home near Peru, Iowa, on Monday, December 9, 1935, at the age of seventy-four years, five months and eleven days. Death came suddenly and without warning as he had not suffered any unusual illness though he has not had good health for about a year. Helping with the work at the farm during the day and busy until about three o'clock when the end came and he passed away without a word. Death was caused by a heart ailment.
