Merlyn "Bud" Faris Sr., 87, died of complications of vascular dementia Aug. 6, 2001, at West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug 10, at Grace Baptist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Alex Bauman officiating. A private burial was at Moon Cemetery, Macksburg.
Bud Faris wa born March 18, 1914 to Carl Floyd and Ethel Mae (Guynn) Faris of Hereford, Colo. He married Anne Ackerman on Aug. 6, 1949. They had three children. He later married Sherryl E. Ferris on May 4, 1974, in Carson City, Nev. They had a daughter. A resident of Madison County since 1986, he had previously resided in Martinez, Calif., for 30 years. Bud had been employed as a carpenter and general contractor in Richmond, Calif., and retired in 1980 as the lead carpenter for Contra Costa County in the San Francisco Bay area. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Winterset and was a former member of the I.O.O.F. and Carpenter's Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Sherryl of Peru; a son Merlyn Faris Jr. (wife Jaime) of Macksburg; three daughters, Carolyn Shugart (husband Joe) of Bakersfield, Calif., Kathleen Trinque (husband Don) of Benicia, Calif., and Laura Faris of Peru; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
