JOHN 'JACK' A. WILLIAMS, Stuart

John 'Jack' Arthur Williams, 94, of Stuart died of a heart ailment March 10, 1999, at Des Moines General Hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 15, at the Dexter Methodist Church with the Revs. Kathy Sides and Robert Farr officiating. Burial was at South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart.

Jack Williams was born May 11, 1904, in Wabash County, Ill., to Edward and Rilla (Goldman) Williams. When he was two years old, his family moved to Iowa and settled in Madison County. He graduated from eighth grade in the Old Stone School near Early Chapel south of Earlham. On Aug. 13, 1931, he married Ethel White of Brooklyn, Ind. To this union, four children were born. Ethel died in February of 1965 following a lengthy illness. In 1966, he married Wilma Smith Moore. Among the several careers during his adult life, Jack ran two oil stations, one in Stuart and one in Anita. He also farmed east of Stuart. In 1968, he was chosen as a Master Sheep Farmer.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by one son, one sister and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife Wilma; one son, Robert Williams of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Karma Gibson (husband Scott) of New Virginia and Marie Williams of Phoenix, Ariz.; five sepsons, Sherman Moore (wife Pamela) of Rocklin, Calif., Mickey Moore (wife Pilar) of Miami, Fla., Andrew Moore (wife Cathy) of Manteca, Caif., Anthony Moore (wife Peggy) of Hillsboro, Tenn., and Samuel Moore of Stockton, Calif.; one sister, Golda Fleming, who resides at the Stuart Care Center, 5 grandchildren, 13 stepgrandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Home in Dexter.
