July 1961JOHN CASS EVANS DIES AT INDIANOLA
John Cass Evans, a native of the Macksburg community, died Sunday, July 9, at his farm home near Indianola. He was 45 years of age. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
Mr. Evans was born at Macksburg, and spent his early life in that community. He moved from here to Altoona, where he lived for many years before moving to Warren county the last of February.
He was an employee of the Firestone Tire and Rubber company plant in Des Moines.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Josephine Evans; four daughters, Lucille of Des Moines, Phyllis of Minneapolis, and Mable and Patty at home; and a son, Raymond Evans, who is serving in Germany with the U.S. Armed forces. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Bertha Evans of Des Moines; four sister, Mrs. Laura Bell of Winterset, Mrs. Katherine Palmer of Des Moines, Mrs. Ethel Givan of Creston and Mrs. Elizabeth Pinckney of Macksburg; two brothers, Lee Evans of Oakdale and Charles Evans of Des Moines; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from the Hamilton Funeral home in Des Moines, with burial in the Pine Hill cemetery.
