1977Services For R. V. Dillinger
Robert Verl Dillinger, 49, a resident of DeSoto, was killed in an automobile accident Saturday, April 9, 1977, at the Interstate 80-Highway 169 interchange. He was a native of Villisca, Iowa, born December 24, 1927.
The son of Verl William and Inez Marguerite Amerine Dillinger, Mr. Dillinger was employed as a truck driver and for 20 years had worked for Continental Hoxie, Inc. of Des Moines. He was a resident of DeSoto since 1969.
The marriage of Robert Dillinger and Margaret Jean Howell took place February 16, 1947 in Peru. She survives her husband.
Mr. Dillinger was a member of the Izaak Walton League and Teamsters Union No. 394.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; five sons, Russell of DeSoto, Robert of Van Meter, Steve of Des Moines, Roger of Minburn and Kenneth at home in DeSoto.
Also surviving is a daughter, Beverly of Lawton, Oklahoma; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Verl W. Dillinger of Peru; five brothers, Harold and Richard of Peru; Donald of Luzerne, Larry of Winterset and William of Davis City; a sister, Marilyn Nichols of Van Meter; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services for Robert Dillinger were conducted Tuesday April 12 at 10:30 a.m. from the Peru Methodist Church, Rev. David H. Wagner officiating. Burial was made at the Peru Cemetery.
