Fontella DeWitt, Winterset

Services for Fontella DeWitt, 80, Winterset, who died Dec. 25 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Dec. 28 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Brite officiating. Burial was in the North McDonald Cemetery.

Born in Winterset April 14, 1905, she was the daughter of Frank and Luella Oller Holmes. On April 14, 1926, she was married to Albert DeWitt in Winterset. Mrs. DeWitt was a lifetime resident of the county, a member of the First Christian Church and a former school teacher at Jefferson No. 9 school.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Keith DeWitt of Gladbrook; daughters, Donna Myers of Sacramento, Calif., and Cathy Sue Kelly of Des Moines; and a brother, Orris Holmes of Coleville, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant grandchild, a brother, a sister, an infant brother and infant sister.
