Ada Elizabeth Denton, Winterset

Ada Elizabeth Denton, 86, died of congestive heart failure Sunday, Feb. 1, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset

Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the First Christian Church in Winterset with the Rev. Marc Rucklos officiating. Interment was at Lorimor Cemetery.

ADa Denton was born Aug. 28, 1911, in Union County to Ivan Marr and Idella Rebecca Comer Means. She married Carroll Denton June 27, 1931 in Mt. Ayr. She graduated from Drake University and taught school for 39 years in Union and Madison counties. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and Lorimor United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Denton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers; one sister; and a great-grandson.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce (husband Jim) Young of Atlantic; a brother, Andrew Means of Lorimor; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Memorials may be made to Community Care Center/IHS or Middle River Hospice.
