Patsy Benoit, Winterset

Patsy Benoit, 72, of Winterset passed away May 19, 2006, at her home with her family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services were held Tuesday, May 23, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Rich Koster officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.

Patsy was born on April 11, 1934, in Adair County, the daughter of John and Flossie Wilson. She was a lifelong resident of Winterset. Patsy graduated from Winterset High School in 1952 and furthered her education at Drake University.

She was united in marriage on March 18, 1956, to Jack Benoit. She worked for Farm Bureau, Engineers Office, and Jordan, Oliver & Walters Law Firm. She also owned and operated Diamond Jacks on the Iowa State Fairgrounds for 35 years.

Patsy was a member of the First Christian Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, lifetime member of the Madison County Historical Society, Blue Ribbon Foundation, Chi Omega Sorority, and three bridge clubs.

Patsy loved to travel with her family, sporting events, Okoboji, and her Wednesday night groupies. Most of all, her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren.

She is loved and survived by husband Jack of 50 years; her children: Lance (Tami) Benoit and their children, Chelsey and Chance; daughters, Tricia (Bob) Behlers and their children, Mallory and Quinton, and Jami (Brad) Yeager and their children, Devin, Sarah, Jessica, and Nathan; sister, Mary Fran (Swede) Almquist; brother, Darrel (Evie) Wilson; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Flossie Wilson, and her brother, Maurice Wilson.
