Delbert Wayne "Bud" McDaniel, 67, of Earlham died of a heart attack on Feb. 17, 1997 at his home. Funeral services were held Feb. 21 at the Earlham United Methodist church with burial in the Earlham Cemetery.

Mr. McDaniel was born Sept. 17, 1929 in Sharon, Kan., the son of John and Helen Ebersole McDaniel. He attended schools in Kansas and graduated from Walnut High School in 1948.

He was married to Mary Lou Houdashelt on Dec. 25, 1948 in Walnut, Kan. In February, 1968, the McDaniel family moved to Earlham so Mr. McDaniel, who was a seeder and landscaper, could landscape and plant trees along Interstate 80. In 1971 he started his own seeding and landscaping business, traveling all over the state of Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, of Earlham; two sons Richard and Delbert, both of Earlham; three daughters, Linda Rhodes, Barbara Brott and Brenda Coon, all of Earlham; his mother, Helen McDaniel of Girard, Kan.; a brother, Donald of Girard, Kan.; a sister, Marie Linder of Wellsville, Kan.; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, and a son, Robert.
