A graveside service for Dorothy L. Godby, 95, of Valley View Village Care Center in Des Moines was held March 9, 1993 at Earlham Cemetery. Miss Godby died of a heart ailment on March 6 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center at Des Moines.

The daughter of Clement and Lilian Wilson Godby, she was born at Earlham on Jan. 12, 1898. She graduated from Earlham Academy in 1917 and then attended Northfield College and the University of Iowa. She worked for a Chicago business firm for many years, and returned to Iowa after her retirement. She moved to Valley View Care Center in 1965. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Earlham.

Miss Godby was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Robert.

Survivors include a sister, Marjorie Gist of Des Moines, and a brother, Graham Godby of Earlham.
