Death of Dr. Walter Cardell

The death of Dr. Walter Sims Cardell of Lone Tree, Iowa, occurred on Friday, May 25th after several months illness with tuberculosis, which developed very suddenly. He was the only child of Judge W. W. Cardell of Perry, and his mother, Fannie Sims Cardell, daughter of David Sims, died at his birth. He grew up in Winterset under the care of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sims.

Dr. Cardell was a bright student, graduating here in 1906, then taking a business course in Des Moines. For a time he studied law at S.U.I., changing to the dental course, finishing last year. His marriage to Miss Anne Densler of Des Moines, took place June 12, 1916. She had been a teacher of German in the Ottumwa schools before her marriage. Disease came upon Mr. Cardell a short time ago, and he began to decline rapidly. Dr. Cardell had a wide acquaintance among young and old, who will sorrow with the young wife in her deep bereavement.

His body was brought here Tuesday and buried beside that of his mother.
