Death Occurs at Home in Winterset for Long-Time Resident
Mrs. Jack Campbell, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Monday July 1, at her home in Winterset. She was 93 years of age.
Mrs. Campbell was the former Roselba Kirk, daughter of John and Charlotte Kirk. She was born Feb. 6, 1984 in Scott township. With the exception of two years, 1886 to 1888, in Beatrice, Nebr., her entire life was spent in or near Winterset.
She had been a member of the Winterset Christian church since 1914.
As a young woman, she taught school in Madison county. She was married on Dec. 25, 1885, to Jack Campbell. They were parents of three daughters. Two of them, Nellie and Hazel, died in infancy. The third, Mrs. Maude Vierling, died in 1953. The husband and father died in 1946.
Surviving are her son-in-law, Ernest Vierling of Winterset; four grandsons, Clarence Vierling of Oklahoma City, and Frederick, Jack and Gene Vierling of Winterset; and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial was to be made in the Union Chapel cemetery.
