Wednesday, September 6, 1978Graveside services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 2, at Winterset Cemetery for George C. Campbell, 80, who died Friday, Sept. 1, 1978, at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.
He was a resident of Ankeny since 1957 and a native of Winterset, where he was born June 11, 1898, the son of Robert Lee and Emma Bullock Campbell. Mr. Campbell lived in Madison County most of his life. He was a retired architectural engineer.
Mr. Campbell was married to Elizabeth Aikins on Sept. 21, 1925, in Atlantic, Iowa. She preceded him in death on May 29, 1973. He is survived by two sons, Robert A. of Ankeny and Douglas G. of Oshkosh, Wis., and three grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Campbell was a veteran of World War I and a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge, Evening Star No. 43. He graduated from Winterset schools and Iowa State University and spent his professional life in Iowa and Pennsylvania.
Officiating at Saturday's services was Rev. Alan Parker.
