Glen Clifford Burklund, 85, of Des Moines, died of a heart attack on Aug. 4, 1997 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgery Center in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be Aug. 7, at 1:30 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Pastor Jon Gaul will officiate the services and burial will be at the U.B. Jefferson Township Cemetery in Madison county. Visitation will be today, (Wednesday) from noon until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m.

He was born Feb. 20, 1912 in Ogilvie, Minn., to Alfred and Hannah (Hallin) Burklund. He married Helen Marguerite Flelman on May 4, 1942 in St. Joseph, Mo. He was a retired musician and had owned and operated a mobile court and worked at WHO Radio Station in Des Moines. He had served in the United States Army during W.W. II. He had lived in Minnesota for 43 years prior to moving to Des Moines in 1995. He was a member of the Highland Park American Legion; a life member of DAV in Des Moines, and a member of the Twin Cities Musicians Union Local 30-73 AFM.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include his wife of Des Moines; one brother, Harvey Burklund of Milaca, Minn.; and three sister, Selma Oss of Bock, Minn., and Mabel Rosen and Lydia Kuylas, both of Ogilvie, Minn.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
