Mrs. Bradley, 99, Dies at Hospital

Jennie Barker Bradley, one of Madison county's oldest residents, died Aug. 7 at Madison County Memorial hospital. She was 99 years and 12 days of age.

Mrs. Bradley was born July 26, 1873 at Lingdale, England, the daughter of Matthew and Mary Twyzel Barker. She came to America at about age eight. She spent her early life in Dawson and Angus, Iowa.

She was married to Edward Bradley in April 1899. Most of her adult life was spent in Altoona, Iowa.

Mrs. Bradley was a member of the Methodist churches at Altoona and in Des Moines. She had lived in the Winterset area the past eight years with a son Albert and a daughter Frances.

She was the last living member of a family of four brothers and four sisters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter and a 15 year old son.

Surviving are two sons, Albert of Winterset and Robert of Des Moines; a daughter, Frances Bradley of Winterset; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bradley were held Aug. 11 from Hamilton's Funeral home in Des Moines with the Rev. Donald C. Krantz officiating. Burial was in the Altoona cemetery.
