Services For Fred Black

Fred Weldon Black, 84, of St. Charles, died Friday, Oct 20, 1978 at Des Moines General Hospital. He was born March 15, 1894, in St. Charles, the son of Alex and Bessie Colley Black.

Mr. Black was educated in St. Charles country schools and on June 27, 1917, was married to Golda Wharff in St. Charles. The couple had one child.

Surviving Mr. Black is his wife, Golda, of St. Charles; a daughter, Maxine Shreves of St. Charles; one grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Laura Torrence of Des Moines.

Mr. Black was preceded in death by his parents, a son in infancy and two brothers, Lloyd and Frank Black.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. from the United Methodist Church of St. Charles with Rev. Rolland C. Towell of St. Charles officiating. Burial was made at the St. Charles Cemetery.
