Orra E. Berry Services Friday

Orra E. Berry, a lifelong resident of Madison County, died Wednesday, April 25, 1973 at the Madison Manor nursing home in Winterset. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. Berry was born March 6, 1895 in Madison County, the son of Charles Berry and Clara Schallaford Berry. He was a veteran of the First World War, a member of the American Legion and worked in Winterset as a construction worker. He also operated a service station here for 15 years.

Mr. Berry was married to Pearl Carey on February 6, 1924 in Madison County.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Berry of Winterset; a daughter, Alice Beardsley of Des Moines; and a son, George C. Berry of Winterset.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Davis of Winterset.

Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a sister.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 27 at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home with burial at the Winterset cemetery.

Rev. Charles Updike of the Foursquare Church of Winterset, officiated.

Coordinator's note: First and middle Taken name from his WWII Draft Registration. It is the same name as found in the Madison County Birth Records although hand written after the pages had been typed. There are some records, including his gravestone that have "Ora Elden".
