1978Former Resident Dies In California
Word has been received here of the death of Robert Benge at the Veteran's Hospital in Long Beach, California of cancer, January 19th. He was 77.
Mr. Benge was born in Winterset the son of Warren and Fannie Benge and grew up in this community. He served in the United States Navy for several years retiring in Long Beach which had since been his home. Funeral services and burial were held in Long Beach.
He is survived by his wife, Mae, two brothers, Leland of Davenport and Don of Racine, Wisconsin, and two sisters, Miriam Hull of Bradenton, Florida and Gertrude Simon of Winterset.
