Robert Bardwell, Winterset

Robert D. Bardwell, 62, died June 14, 1993, at his home. Funeral services will be held Fri. June 18 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Visitation for the public will be Thursday from noon to 9 p.m. A graveside service will be given by the Winterset V.F.W. at Union Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Bardwell was born February 5, 1931, in Mercer, Mo. to Oliver and Etta (Gates) Bardwell. He married Dixie Lee Cleghorn June 19, 1954 in Des Moines. He lived in Winterset for 27 years and worked as a truck mechanic. He was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran of the Korean conflict and belonged to both the American Legion and the V.F.W. in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Dixie; four sons, Kermit of Des Moines , Robert Michael of Winterset, Patrick of Peru, and Oliver of Winterset; four daughters, Cinda Garner of Winterset, Sheila Garner of West Des Moines, Julie Forsyth of Winterset and Cheryl Odegaard of DeSoto; a brother, David Bardwell of Crescent City, Calif.; two sisters, Kathleen Decker of Leon and Ernestine Thomas of Des Moines and 12 grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
