Isabella Godby

EARLHAM-A funeral for Isabella King Anderson Foster Godby, 87, of Earlham was held Feb. 20, 1993 at the First Presbyterian church here, with burial following at the Earlham Cemetery. Mrs. Godby died of coronary artery disease on Feb. 18.

The daughter of Henry and Jameseen Foster, she was born near Earlham on Jan. 8, 1906. She married Robert Wilson Godby on July 18, 1928 and most of her married life was spent on the Godby Century Farm west of Earlham. A graduate of Iowa State University with a home economics major, she returned to teaching after her husband’s accidental death in 1947, teaching at DeSoto for six years and retiring from Earlham Community Schools in 1971 after 17 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean Wright of Belle Plaine and Mary Ray of Lincoln, Neb.; a son, John Godby of Earlham; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
