IMOGENE L. BANE DIES UNEXPECTEDLY

Autopsy Indicates Death of Winterset Woman Caused By Heart Attack

Mrs. Imogene L. Bane of Winterset died unexpectedly here Saturday night. the 55-year-old woman had parked her car about 11:20 p.m. in the rear of her apartment, then walked toward the apartment door, where she met an acquaintance and stopped to talk, when she was suddenly stricken.

Mrs. Bane was rushed to Memorial hospital, and Dr. Paul Eggleston, county medical examiner was called. He reported her death had occurred almost instantaneously upon being stricken.

An autopsy was performed Sunday, Doctor Eggleston reports the autopsy indicated her death resulted from the rupture of an artery near the heart.

Mrs. Bane had been a resident of Madison county for 40 years. She was born in Dallas county Sept. 26, 1909. She was the former Imogene Sumpter, daughter of John W. and Philena McKee Sumpter. She attended Winterset high school.

She was married to Neal D. Bane of Winterset on July 20, 1952, at Marysville, Mo. His death occurred in 1961. Since that time, she had operated a tavern in Winterset.

Surviving are a daughter, Marys, at home; and three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Bartmess of St. Charles, Mrs. Dale Kirby of Winterset and Mrs. LeRoy Clark of Van Meter.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. H. E. Borum of the First Baptist church here. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
