Wallace Lee Anderson, 75, of Des Moines died of multiple organ system failure Nov. 4, 2003, at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 8, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Dr. John Shaull officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery with military rites performed by American Legion Post 184 and V.F.W. Post 8142, both of Winterset.
Wally Anderson was born May 17, 1928, in Winterset to Lee Hampton and Hettie Joy (Antle) Anderson. He was a 1946 graduate of Winterset High School. On Jan. 25, 1955, he married Velma Phearman in Winterset. Wally had been a storeman in supplies for the State of Iowa Department of Revenue before retiring. A United States Army veteran of the Korean conflict, he was a former member of American Legion Post 184. He was a resident of Winterset until moving to Des Moines in 1988.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Howard Anderson and Wayne Anderson; and two sisters, May Anderson and Carol Anderson.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Anderson of Norwalk; four daughters, Janis Hovland of Cambridge, Judi Althoff of Edgewood, Jill Bloom of Portland, Ore., and Joy Bosteder of Seattle, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
