CLARENCE YOUNG, Winterset

Clarence E. Young, 89, of Winterset, died Sept. 28, 1994 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were Oct. 1, 1994 at the First Christian Church in Winterset. The Rev. Bobby Dickerson officiated with burial at the Winterset Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 18, 1905 in Madison County to Hugh Allison and Lillie Estella (Binns) Young. He married Anna Kathryn Read in Winterset on Feb. 10, 1929. He was a lifetime resident of Madison County. He retired to Winterset in 1973 and had farmed in Clarke County and Madison County all his life. He was a member of the First Christian Church and a member of the Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by four brothers; one sister; and one great-grandaughter.

Surviving relatives include his wife; six sons, Darwin Young and wife Gretchen of Des Moines, Dean Young and wife Enid of Dysart, Dwight Young and wife Susan of Storm Lake, Wayne Young and wife Jo of Winterset, Wyman Young and wife Janice of Denison, and Wesley Young and wife Joan of Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter, Mary Ann Backer of Hiawatha, Kansas; two brothers, Earl Young of Winterset and Howard Young of Winterset; 17 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
