JOHN CLARKSON Rites Thursday

John W. Clarkson of Winterset, a longtime resident and barber here, died at his home this Tuesday, October 1, 1974. He was 87 years of age.

Mr. Clarkson was born in Cass County on August 18, 1887, the son of Robert and Nettie Stewart Clarkson. He was married to Merle Benham at Anita in 1905, and was later married to Roxie Weeks at Adel in 1928.

Mr. Clarkson had lived in Madison County for 67 years. He was affiliated with the First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Roxie; three sons: Harold and Robert Clarkson of Winterset and Philip Clarkson of Waterloo; and five daughters: Louise McDonald of Sac City, Nayda Johnson of Central City, Nebraska, Darlene Eklov of Des Moines, Barbara Scholl of Creighton, Nebraska; and Irene Pfrimmer of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mr. Clarkson is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Two brothers, Clarence Clarkson of Santa Rosa, California and Raymond Clarkson of Des Moines, also survive.

Mr. Clarkson was preceded in death by his first wife, Merle; by one son, John Jr.; by his parents; and by two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m.Thursday, October 3, at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the Rev. Eldon Jandebeur officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.
