CLAUDE M. ALLEN OF WINTERSET DIES

Claude M. Allen of Winterset died at his home here Friday, Nov. 18. He was 79 years of age.

Mr. Allen was born in Madison county on Aug. 8, 1881, a son of James and Leava Beem Allen. He moved to Polk county as a young man, and for many years was employed at the Des Moines power plant. He moved back to Winterset in 1956.

His wife, the former Mary Childress preceded him death in 1956.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Hamilton Funeral home in Des Moines, conducted by the Rev. Harry L. Herlein, pastor of the Miller Evangelical United Brethren church. Burial was made in Highland Memory gardens.

Claude Allen, Winterset, Dies

Claude Allen, 79, of Winterset, a former Des Moines resident, died of a heart attack at his home Friday after a four-year illness.

Mr. Allen moved to Winterset four years ago. Previously he lived eight years in Dallas, Ia., and more than 30 years in Des Moines. He was a lineman for Iowa Power & Light Co. here 30 years, retiring in 1946. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Services will be Monday noon at the Hamilton Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.

There are no immediate family survivors.
