Lenore N. Algreen, Dexter

Services for Lenore N. Algreen, 85, lifetime resident of Dexter, who died March 29, were held Tuesday, March 31 at the Zion Luthean Church at Dexter with the Rev. David Rempfer officiating. Burial was at the Dexter Cemetery.

Born Sept. 7, 1901 in Madison County, she was the daughter of Anton and Amalia Wishmier Clausen. She was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church at Dexter, having been baptized Sept. 18, 1901 and confirmed April 16, 1916.

She was employed at the defense plant during World War II at the Dexter Clinic Hospital and at the Dexter Telephone Co. She played the organ for the church and was active in Ladies Aid.

On September 1, 1946 she was married to Samuel Buchanan. After his death in September 1947 she was married to Pete Algreen on Nov. 22, 1958.

Survivors include her husband, Pete; and stepchildren, Billy Algreen and Helen Hester, both of Earlham. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and a sister.

Lenore Nannie Algreen was born September 7, 1901 to Anton and Amalia Wishmier Clausen in Madison County, Iowa. She was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Dexter, Iowa, having been baptized September 18, 1901 and confirmed April 16, 1916.

Lenore was employed at the Defense Plant during World War II, then at the Dexter Clinic Hospital, lastly at the Dexter Telephone Company. She played the organ for the church and was active in Ladies Aid.

On September 1, 1946 she was untied in marriage to Samuel Buchanan. After his death in September 1947 she was married to Pete Algreen on November 22, 1958.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and a sister. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Pete; two step-children, Billy Algreen and Helen Hester, both of Earlham, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted March 31, 1987 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Dexter, Iowa, with Pastor David Rempfer officiating. Joanne Smith provided organ music. Pallbearers were Philip Algreen, Alan Algreen, Paul Algreen, Norman Waddell, Kevin Waddell, James Waddell and Jon Waddell. Interment was in Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, Iowa.
