HELEN PALMER, New Mexico

Helen G. Palmer, 84, of Albuquerque, N.M., died Oct. 4, 2003.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 9, at French Mortuary in Albuquerque. Burial was at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Helen Palmer was born Jan. 13, 1919, in Madison County to Floyd Jacob and Lillian (Arnold) Thomas. Her education was received in country schools in Madison County, at Macksburg High School, Winterset High School and Simpson College. Helen taught in rural one-room schools in Madison and Clarke counties prior to her marriage on May 25, 1941, to Harry Donald Palmer. She had been a member of the First Methodist Church Two-Som Class, Immanual Presbyterian Church Board of Deacons and Elder Homestead Neighborhood Association (past president). She also had been involved with church youth groups.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Dr. Marvin R. Palmer of Petaluma, Calif., and Dr. Keith E. Palmer of Mill Valley, Calif.; two brothers, Jack Thomas of Winterset and Wayne Thomas of Murray; a sister, Ethyl Jensen of St. Charles, Mo.; and five grandchildren.
